Within AniCura Drechtstreek, part of Mars Petcare, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise in a high-volume referral environment with a wide variety of complex patients. You will work with challenging case histories that require in-depth clinical reasoning, extensive diagnostic options and close collaboration with specialists from different disciplines, including ECVECC.

Complex referral medicine is much more enjoyable when you have people around you with whom you can discuss a difficult case.

You will join a team of experienced veterinarians and European specialists, with short lines of communication between disciplines and a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing.

At the same time, you will have the independence expected of a Diplomate and the freedom to make your own clinical decisions.

You will work in a varied referral environment, with a high volume of internal medicine cases and a wide range of patients. This means plenty of opportunities to apply your specialist knowledge across different and interesting clinical presentations.

Cases range from complex chronic diseases and multisystemic conditions to patients presented urgently through our emergency department who require specialist assessment and treatment.

What makes this position particularly interesting is the variety and the opportunity to work with complex cases on a daily basis.

You will have the opportunity to investigate challenging diagnostic questions, decide which additional diagnostics will add value and develop treatment plans tailored to each individual patient. At the same time, you will have the support of experienced colleagues and specialists from other disciplines whenever a case calls for a broader perspective.

Your expertise, our capabilities

Within our referral centres, you will have access to extensive diagnostic facilities, including:

• High-quality ultrasound

• Digital X-rays

• CT

• MRI

• Endoscopy

• Comprehensive laboratory diagnostics

In addition, you will work closely with colleagues in Imaging, Cardiology, Neurology, Surgery, Dermatology, Oncology and Emergency & Intensive Care, among others.

After all, a complex patient does not stop at one field. It is precisely the combination of different expertise that makes it possible to assess patients from multiple perspectives and arrive at the best approach together.

A role for a specialist who likes to be challenged

As a Diplomate, you are given the space to treat complex patients independently while being part of a team in which you can easily exchange ideas and expertise.

You will be involved in specialist consultations, complex diagnostics and treatment, as well as admitted and urgent patients. You are involved in the entire process: from initial assessment and diagnostic strategy to treatment, monitoring and evaluation.

There is room for own initiative and substantive development. Do you have specific expertise within a subfield of internal medicine? Then we would be happy to discuss how we can make the most of it within our team.

Training is also possible

A special opportunity within this position is that you can guide and train a resident.

Would you like to pass on your knowledge and experience to the next generation of internists? Then you can play an active role in the training of a resident and contribute to the further development of the field.

This gives you not only challenging patient care, but also the opportunity to take on a substantive and educational role within the team.

Are you not a Diplomate, but highly experienced?

We are emphatically open to a highly experienced Internal Medicine veterinarian who works at a specialist level and has extensive experience with complex second-line cases.
